The Patient Safety and Risk Specialist will support the Vice Chair of Quality and ACMO of Obstetrics and Gynecology to oversee and manage department-wide patient safety initiatives and risk mitigation. This role will focus on carrying out daily activities while fostering Equity Informed High Reliability Concepts.
Other patient safety activities will focus on conducting proactive risk assessments and retrospective collaborative risk reviews, and participating in QA and QI initiatives at the department and AMC levels.
Extensive, daily interaction with other Directors, Managers, hospital leadership, and staff in the Department of Quality and Safety is a key component of this role. The Patient Safety and Risk Specialist must also be able to collaborate with nurse director and nurse specialists from inpatient and outpatient departments to collect data and conduct follow up. Because this role is in an active change management environment, this specialist will need to demonstrate flexibility and open mindedness as the contours of this position will evolve over time.
Job Summary:
Accountable for interpreting the plan of medical care, assessment of patients' clinical decision-making regarding nursing care, assuring nursing care is provided in a safe and competent manner, providing individualized nursing care, and evaluating nursing care for groups of patients.
