Job Summary:
Perioperative Nurse Educator – The Perioperative Nurse Educator supports perioperative services as we expand into 2 new OR spaces for a total of 11 OR’s daily, 9 surgical specialties with robust growth in DaVinci, Cori, Mako, and Globus robotics.
We have strong local interest in our AORN Periop 101 course. Our educator is responsible for the education of our newest nurses during their transition to independent OR nursing.
Lead the development and oversight of both the orientation of new employees and the ongoing evidence based competency program. Monitor ongoing progress and adapt the learning plan as needed in collaboration with the RN preceptors, Clinical Leaders, and Nurse Directors across the perioperative services including Operating Room, Endoscopy, and PACU.
Assess the learning needs of experienced staff, prepare and present appropriate educational programs, including annual skills day. Develop and revise written protocols, policies and procedures that guide the nursing staff in provision of perioperative care in accordance with evidence based practice.
